The Alver Valley is approximately 200 hectares and encompasses a great diversity of habitats and landscapes including wetlands, woodlands and grasslands. It is an important corridor linking the open land to the north with the coast.
The council is developing a country park with a range of informal recreational opportunities for local residents and visitors.
Recent improvements include two new car parks and an extensive new play area, which is proving very popular. The council is also planning to enhance the facilities with a café and toilets near the playground.
Works to extend and enlarge the BMX track are now complete and proposals continue to be developed for a garden centre and visitor hub at a new gateway area.
