The council has recently embarked on a review of the Gosport Borough Local Plan 2011–2029.

The key issues that we will be focusing on are:

  • maximising opportunities to provide jobs and enhance skills on the peninsula and reduce the current high levels of out-commuting
  • maximising the potential for marine and related uses and improving access to the waterfront
  • alleviating congestion, improving the borough’s infrastructure and increasing options for travel choice
  • regenerating a significant number of brownfield sites and bringing unique heritage assets back into use by addressing the challenges created by poor levels of maintenance, contamination, flooding and nature conservation issues
  • creating vibrant places to live
  • improving health and wellbeing
  • protecting and enhancing the borough’s important habitats and open spaces
