Gosport Waterfront Gateway

Gosport has a huge, once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance and revitalise the town’s waterfront using the space shortly to be vacated by the existing bus station, once the new Transport Interchange is completed.

This busy gateway to the borough has stunning views of HM Naval Base, the Historic Dockyard and Portsmouth Harbour, and includes the town’s commemorative Falkland Gardens, its ferry terminal and the forthcoming transport interchange.

The council’s goal is a major waterfront regeneration scheme, including a new transport interchange and an improved public realm. There is huge potential for a mixed-use scheme bringing new employment, particularly in the marine sector, along with cultural and recreational facilities, bars and restaurants.

The town centre, which adjoins the waterfront, is also a major focus for the council’s regeneration plans as part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone investment. The new development will improve connectivity along the whole waterfront and act as a catalyst to rejuvenate the wider area and harness an ambitious spirit among private, public and community sector partners, which will reignite public pride in the town.

The opening of the new Transport Interchange is due by March 2023, with marketing of the existing bus station site to potential developers already underway.
