POST TITLE: Strategic Projects Officer
POST NUMBER: PR2
GRADE: Grade 7
LOCATION: Town Hall
RESPONSIBLE TO: Economic Development and Regeneration Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Effective management, governance and delivery of strategic projects and major schemes that support the economic regeneration of Gosport.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To assist the Economic Development and Regeneration Manager and play a key role in contributing to the development and implementation of strategic regeneration projects, in accordance with the council’s strategic priorities.
HOURS OF WORK: 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday, in accordance with the Council’s flexi-time system. You may be required to work outside normal office hours from time to time.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: The post holder is a nominated casual user for car allowance purposes, whilst the duties and responsibilities of the post justify this, and must hold a full current driving licence and have a vehicle available.
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES: KEY TASKS
To proactively identify, develop and implement projects that contribute to council priorities, with a particular emphasis on physical and economic regeneration.
To liaise with the External Funding Officer to identify and secure external funding where required.
To develop and maintain the Council’s strategic project and major schemes register.
To work with Council service heads and other colleagues to identify and monitor a pipeline of future strategic projects that contributes towards the Council’s strategic priorities, with a particular emphasis on physical and economic regeneration.
To support the Economic Development and Regeneration Manager in developing and managing projects with external partners for the regeneration of Gosport.
To maintain effective project information and recording systems, provide regular internal updates, including highlighting risks and issues and identifying mitigating actions, and liaise with other project managers to ensure that projects are properly managed and recorded.
To audit the effectiveness of council project management arrangements and make recommendations where necessary to ensure appropriate governance.
To be the council’s critical project manager advising council senior project managers on good practice and supporting council project boards and panels.
To liaise with council project managers and report to council management and members on new projects and major schemes identified, progress on delivery and the outcomes generated.
To provide an excellent level of customer service to all internal and external partners, including businesses and residents.
To assist, as required, in the formulation and review of Economic Development and Regeneration strategies and business plans.
To use the available PC based technology for all correspondence, recording and monitoring.
To use Idox Uniform and DMS to keep records and to input and extract information.
To provide a good level of customer care to all stakeholders of the Section.
To act in accordance with, and ensure that service delivery complies with, current regulations, accepted professional standards, the council’s policies and procedures and appropriate legislation (including legislation on equalities, health and safety and safeguarding children/vulnerable adults).
